WHY:

  • SATS and SpaceX have had a number of spectrum related battles at the FCC.
  • Recently SpaceX has petitioned the FCC to allow it to utilize the AWS 4/2 GHz band SATS is using.
  • Monday, the FCC released a public notice asking for public comment on whether it should do that and/or in other ways address SATS use of spectrum.
  • In the call we will discuss the legal, policy, and political elements of the path forward for SATS and its efforts to create a facilities based wireless competitor and/or monetize its spectrum holdings.
