Starlink urban capacity economics deep-dive
October 13, 2026 — 10am EST / 3pm UK
Virtual
What's New: The New Street Space team will be hosting a client call to discuss Starlink’s urban capacity economics on Tuesday 13 October, 10am ET/ 3pm UK.This call follows our deep-dive note, which used a detailed model of each Starlink satellite to assess how much urban demand Starlink can serve – and whether SpaceX’s request for 100,000 satellites makes economic sense. During this call, we will walk through the key findings and sensitivities from the model, including constellation size, the FCC’s NCO limit and Starlink’s natural market share. There will be a presentation followed by an interactive Q&A session.
The call will cover the following topics:
- How much urban demand can Starlink serve with 20k vs 100k satellites?
- How binding is the FCC’s NCO limit on overlapping beams – and what if it is lifted?
- What natural market share would justify the cost of a 100k constellation?
- Reviewing our own Starlink subscriber forecasts.
- Could new use cases (vehicles, robotics, AI traffic) justify a larger fleet?
